It is always a joy when one organically stumbles upon a fabulous little place. My brother and I were meeting for a coffee, and when we arrived at our intended destination we learned that their coffee machine was broken. So we wandered until we saw the window of the Lowdown, and popped in for a coffee.
The service was friendly and the coffee was lovely, and we were certainly intrigued by our neighbouring table’s delicious-looking brunch of kimchi toasties. But what struck me most is when I popped downstairs to the loo and saw the warm, funky, seventies-vibe basement bar. I knew I would have to return.
Turns out not only do they do great coffee and food (very reasonably priced for the area I might add), but there is a great and lively bar in the evenings. The vibe is funky yet cosy. We opted for the wine so I can’t comment on the cocktails, but by all accounts they looked legit.
If you’re in the area I highly recommend - it is also perfectly situated for a drink after an evening at the Coliseum ;)
